KUALA LUMPUR, November 22 – The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun was seen entering the Istana Negara at about 1.25pm. However, until now there has been no movement involving political party leaders through the two gates of the Istana Negara. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah is however not in the palace at the moment and was seen leaving the palace in a vehicle driven by His Majesty at about 12.30 in the afternoon.
On Monday, His Majesty ordered the leaders of the political parties with the largest majority to present the new coalition and Prime Ministerial candidate to the Istana Negara. Datuk Pengeloj Dirajaya Istana Negara, Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said, the leaders of the party with the largest majority need to inform the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun before handing it over to Istana Negara.
However, His Majesty gave his consent to extend the process of submitting a coalition after the 15th General Election (GE15) for the formation of a new government and the nomination of the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia until 2pm on Tuesday. It follows requests from political party leaders and coalitions to extend the time.
