BATANG KALI, December 17 – The search and rescue (SAR) operation for landslide victims at the camp site on Jalan Batang Kali-Gohtong Jaya, here, resumed at 7am, Saturday. The rescue team consisting of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM); Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (Smart); The Detection Dog Unit (K9) and the General Operations Team (GAP) began entering the search area.
As of 11pm on Friday, 12 more individuals are believed to be still missing and a total of 21 victims are reported to have died. Assistant Director of Operations of the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JPBM), Hafisham Mohd Noor said, so far the SAR operation is still ongoing and no victims have been found yet. The SAR operation is still ongoing, no (victims) have been found yet,” he said briefly when contacted on Saturday.
