BATANG KALI, December 25 – The search and rescue operation (SAR) for the victims of the landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite, Gohtong Jaya, ended at 12 noon, Sunday. Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said, the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department had been doing ‘flushing’ and ‘sweeping’ at the scene since Saturday night until Sunday morning. We have agreed that there are no more victims yet to be found, so the SAR operation center will end at 12 noon.
He said that the police had finalized the number of victims involved in the Landslide tragedy on December 16 at 92 victims. A total of 61 were successfully rescued, while 31 died in this tragedy he said. He said how many other agencies such as the Public Works Department (JKR), the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council, the Department of Minerals and Geosciences and the Department of Surveying and Mapping Malaysia will carry out technical work at the scene of the incident.
“I thank all the agencies involved in the SAR operation,” he said. Acryl Sani said, he believes that every agency has acted precisely in accordance with the instructions of the National Security Council 20 (MKN 20). There is no duplication of duties, I believe this kind of operation can be an example in future SAR operations he said.
