BATANG KALI, December 25 – The last victim of the landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite here was found on Saturday. The body of the unfortunate child was found by the search and rescue team (SAR) at 4.50 pm. You can see the relief on the faces of SAR officers including members of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Malaysian Special Search and Rescue Team (SMART), and Civil Defense Forces (APM) when they hug each other.
On Saturday, the search for the last victim, believed to be a boy, continued into the ninth day. JBPM was reported to have said that SAR operations are focused around sector A (hillview), which is where the victim is believed to be. Before that, the heart-wrenching tragedy was reported to have occurred while most of the victims were sound asleep at around 2.30 in the morning involving a total of 92 individuals at the campsite. A total of 31 victims were confirmed dead, consisting of 20 adults and 11 children.
