KUALA LUMPUR, January 26 – The UMNO Disciplinary Board Management Committee met on Wednesday to discuss the status of former UMNO Youth Leader Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar’s membership in the party. However, any decision from the closed meeting will be brought to the UMNO Supreme Working Council Meeting (MKT) on Friday.
Prior to that, UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan confirmed the matter in a brief reaction when asked by the media after conducting a work survey of the housing construction site of the One Member One House (SASaR) program of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) in Sungai Besi on Wednesday. Following that, Menara Dato Onn, World Trade Center (WTC) began to be the focus of the media since 4pm on Wednesday.
However, there is no confirmation and further information about the ongoing meeting. Apart from Khairy, it is believed that Tan Sri Noh Omar will also be summoned by the UMNO Disciplinary Board on January 30. The 2022 UMNO General Assembly (PAU) approved the proposal that the positions of President and Deputy President are not contested. Khairy claimed there was an attempt to bring in ‘import representation’ to vote on the motion.
