KUALA LUMPUR, January 28 – The UMNO Supreme Working Council MEETING on Friday finally provided certainty regarding the position of some big-name leaders in the party. Two leaders announced to have been sacked yesterday are former Selangor UMNO Chairman, Tan Sri Noh Omar and former UMNO Youth Leader, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar. UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan in a statement after the MKT meeting.
Said that the decision to dismiss him was made due to violation of party discipline according to the UMNO Constitution. Due to offenses during the 15th General Election (GE15). In the meantime, UMNO also announced the six-year suspension of some of its leaders such as Sembrong Member of Parliament who is also former Vice President, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and former Information Chief, Shahril Sufian Hamdan. Also receiving the same fate were Tebrau Division UMNO Chief Datuk Maulizan Bujang and Datuk Seri Mohd Salim Sharif.
The party also decided to fire five UMNO members from Pasir Gudang Division, nine UMNO members from Putrajaya Division. Two UMNO members from Tanjung Karang Division and 26 UMNO members from Pahang state. With that development, UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi finally kept his promise to implement the decision reached at the recent PAU to carry out a massive clean-up within the party. However, it is still too early to expect the impact that UMNO will experience as a result of the move.
