KUALA LUMPUR, January 31 – After a few days of being fired from UMNO, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar admitted to receiving many offers not only from political parties but academics, businesses and corporations. Even so, the former Rembau Member of Parliament insisted that he had not made a decision. Using a football club as an analogy, Khairy said he is free to make choices and is looking at the ‘club’ that suits him best.

“Yes, I have received several offers from various parties from politics, academia, business and corporate. I haven’t made a decision yet. Everyone knows I love football and am free to change direction so I’m looking at the right ‘club’ and weighing the options and opportunities available to move forward. here is no decision yet, this is not an easy one to change,” he said when he appeared as a guest on The Breakfast Grille program on BFM radio on Monday.

In fact, the former UMNO Youth Leader did not rule out the possibility of running in the next state election (PRN). After 23 years of serving the party it is difficult to start a new one. I have to make adjustments to reality, and choose carefully,” he said. When asked about the criteria he was looking for to join another political party, Khairy insisted that it must be in line with his own vision for the country which is inclusive, progressive and related to good governance.

Last Friday, the UMNO leadership sacked Khairy and former Tanjung Karang Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Noh Omar after the Supreme Working Council Meeting (MKT) was held. Apart from the two leaders who were sacked, several other leaders including Sembrong Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein were suspended for six years.
