BATU KAWAN, February 13 – ViTrox Academy – the education arm of ViTrox Corporation Berhad – officially launches ViTrox College to provide industry-centric, inspiring and inclusive education with a strong emphasis on engaging and practical learning environments. The College is set up to bridge the education and industry systems by applying classroom practices relevant to the actual day-to-day work in the industry.
On 10 February 2023, Chief Minister of Penang YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Deputy Director of the Department of Skills Development YBhg Ts. Dr Mohd Yusoff bin Abu Bakar and CEO of Penang Science Cluster Dato’ Ooi Peng Ee visited ViTrox Campus 2.0 to officiate and witness the launch of ViTrox College, the certificate programme of National Dual Training System and ViTrox Makerspace. ViTrox College officially announced its establishment on 19 December 2022 upon receiving accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
On 9 August 2022, the institution obtained Malaysian Qualification Accreditation/Provisional Accreditation (MQA/PA) for its diploma courses, including Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering, Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Machine Vision). 9 students started their first semester with the college on 9 January 2023 in the first intake. Aside from the diploma programmes, ViTrox Academy is launching the programme of National Dual Training System (Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional – SLDN) concurrently.
ViTrox Academy acquired the certification from the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) under the Ministry of Human Resources on 1 August 2022 for launching the SLDN programme. Fourteen students attended their first class on 9 January 2023. Since the establishment of ViTrox Academy in 2020, the institution has started to offer lifelong learning programmes for working professionals and university students, contributing to economic growth and social development.
Besides, ViTrox Academy also actively develops partnerships with primary and secondary schools in Penang state to provide opportunities for interest exploration in technologies beyond their schools and formal education. This objective has been enhanced with the establishment of ViTrox Makerspace in the year 2021. In 2022, ViTrox Academy hosted 668 students from 15 secondary schools with 10 school visitations at ViTrox Makerspace. The institution also partnered with educational institutions to organise 25 workshops where 16 ViTrox’s engineers and four ViTrox Academy trainers coached 130 students from primary and secondary schools.
In collaboration with other STEM, ViTrox Makerspace also played a role as a venue partner to host innovative competitions at ViTrox Makerspace, where five ViTrox’s engineers coached two groups of secondary school students for the contest. In September and December 2022, ViTrox Academy organised eight sessions of Campus Open Day. With the approval of the Penang State Education Department, more than 1000 students from 22 schools and 500 community members attended the campus visit to experience technology showcases in ViTrox Makerspace.

As of now, ViTrox Corporation Berhad has put in nearly RM4 million to set up ViTrox Academy and RM1 million to set up ViTrox Makerspace. The company is committed to contributing its efforts to developing future talents and technology for the benefit of the nation. ViTrox Corporation Berhad contributed RM1.69 million to ViTrox Foundation in 2022, and in turn, ViTrox Foundation will set aside RM500,000 in 2023 to support underprivileged students who wish to further their education at ViTrox College.
