GEORGE TOWN, February 21 – The Penang State Education Department (JPN) takes seriously any misconduct including vandalism and gangsterism involving school students in this state. School administrators at all levels are often reminded to take appropriate measures to curb and prevent such behavior. JPN Penang is aware of the viral video recording, which shows the behavior of students damaging school property on the last day of the 2022 school session.
JPN Penang is very sorry for the incident and will ensure that this issue is given serious attention by the school. Moral education and immediate preventive measures will be taken to ensure that such cases do not happen again. Appropriate action is being taken by the school, which the school has called the students involved with their relatives today (February 18) to discuss the issue. Students will be involved in community service as a character and manners intervention to ensure the same thing does not happen again.
The value of property damage is also under investigation. JPN Penang is always committed to ensuring that the well-being of teachers and students is given attention. Therefore, the campaign to stop vandalism as well as a comprehensive action plan will be intensified in order to be in line with the seven cores of KPM. At the same time, the portals that broadcast the video without covering the student’s face are advised to delete the video because it is in conflict with Section 15 of the Children’s Act 2001.
