KUALA LUMPUR, February 23 – The puzzle of the date of the dissolution of the State Legislature (DUN) in six states to enable the State Election (PRN) to be held has been answered after Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari confirmed that the process is expected to take place in the last two weeks of June. “Alhamdulillah, the six of us took the opportunity to have afternoon tea in Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with the Raja Raja Council Meeting that was held for two days today.
“In short, we reached a consensus to consider the dissolution of our respective state assemblies in the last two weeks of June 2023,” he said through a picture statement uploaded on the Selangor Menteri Besar’s personal Facebook account on Wednesday. Also present at the meeting was Terengganu Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar; Kedah Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor; The Chief Minister of Kelantan, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, the Chief Minister of Penang, Chow Kon Yeow and the Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
Amirudin explained, this understanding will definitely be informed and discussed at the respective party level before being presented for the approval of His Majesty the Sultan, the Yang Dipertuan Besar and the respective Heads of States. “Hopefully this understanding can facilitate the people’s efforts to celebrate democracy in the future, God willing,” he said.
