KUALA LUMPUR, February 24 – The government has provided more than RM500 million to maintain the Armed Forces House and rehabilitate residential quarters and institutions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, said Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar who is also the Minister of Finance said that the government will also build more than 7,000 affordable housing units under the One Member One House Program (SASaR) in Kuala Lumpur to help the ownership of affordable housing for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) in phases.

Regarding members who leave the service or retire without a pension having to make full payment of the Public Sector Housing Financing Board’s (LPPSA) funding balance, he said, the government agreed that LPPSA offer the opportunity for members to continue repaying the loan balance as usual until it is completed. This effort enables 4,000 LPPSA borrowers to be eligible to restructure their financing and 700 borrowers who will retire without pension every year can continue repaying their loans as usual,” he said when presenting the 2023 Budget in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Anwar said, in order to ensure that ATM veterans are provided with jobs and training facilities as they face difficulties in finding employment after retirement age, this administration will implement the Second Work Program for ATM Veterans through the cooperation of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT). Under this effort, a total of 5,000 ATM veterans who are retiring this year will be guaranteed to be matched with job opportunities or receive skills training to increase opportunities to generate income,” he said.

He said, in order to improve the skills of 1,250 veterans, the Department of Veterans Affairs together with other government agencies will offer five courses including drone operation, cyber security and aircraft maintenance for three months.
