SEGAMAT, March 5 – The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday gave assurances that the flood mitigation plan (RTB) project, especially in Johor, will speed up its operation starting this June. He said that the tender process for the flood mitigation project should be expedited and should be operational immediately, given that the issue of flooding in Johor especially, is a recurring issue.
“This issue (flooding) if nothing serious is done, it will repeat itself. This issue of flooding is not the first time, but it has been for many years. Sometimes, twice a year. Therefore, we decided that projects costing RM600 million or more in flood mitigation will be expedited. Later we will pass and expedite,” he told reporters after visiting the Kampung Tengah National Type (Chinese) School’s Temporary Transfer Center, here today.
He said the six flood mitigation projects that were previously postponed for a while, because he did not want the allocation to help the people to have leakage or theft, even though the tender process was expedited.
