KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was seen arriving at Menara Dato’ Onn, World Trade Center (WTC) to attend the second Unity Government Secretariat Meeting on Sunday. In addition, several key leaders of the Unity Government also arrived including Chief Whip of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; DAP Secretary General, Anthony Loke Siew Fook; UMNO Secretary General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Sarawak Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
It was followed by the presence of the Deputy President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub; Deputy President of the People’s Justice Party (PKR), Mohd Rafizi Ramli and PKR Secretary General, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. It is understood that the meeting chaired by Anwar will start at 8pm and is expected to discuss a number of matters including the strategy of the Unity Government and the manifesto to face the State Election (PRN) later.
Media personnel have been at the Menara Dato’ Onn lobby since 7pm to cover the meeting. On Saturday, Barisan Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said, the Unity Government Secretariat Meeting involving Pakatan Harapan (PH) and BN on Sunday will not discuss the distribution of seats for PRN in the six states. Mohamad said, on the other hand, the main agenda to be discussed is the strategy of the Unity Government and the manifesto to face the next PRN.
Previously, the media reported that the Unity Secretariat meeting on Sunday will present the first report of the negotiations of all parties in the government to face the PRN in six states. Saifuddin Nasution, who is also the Secretary General of PH, said that the issue of seat distribution negotiations for the six states would be on the agenda to be discussed. Last February 7, Anwar attended the first Unity Government Secretariat Meeting at the UMNO Headquarters in Menara Dato’ Onn.
The first meeting of the Secretariat of the Unity Government of Malaysia agreed to establish three committees involving all parties in the government. Anwar informed that the committees are the Strategy Committee, the Election Committee and the Government and Political Agenda Monitoring Committee.
