KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 – Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil once again reminded all Muslims in this country to wait for the official announcement regarding the date of 1st Syawal for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. He explained that the official announcement will only be made on Thursday, 20 April 2023, at 8pm on all official channels.

Fahmi said, Malaysia only refers to the announcement made by the Keeper of the Great Seal of the Kings and not from other parties. So if you ladies and gentlemen receive any information (on the 1st of Syawal), whether it’s at 6pm, 6.30pm or 7pm, don’t believe it. Wait for the official announcement. We don’t follow announcements like in Saudi Arabia, India or Indonesia, unless we celebrate there.

“We in Malaysia will refer to the announcement from the Keeper of the Great Seal of the Kings. God willing, I believe the Aidilfitri celebration will fall on one Syawal. So no matter what happens, we will not run away,” he said while speaking at the Sri Pantai People’s Housing Project (PPR) community contribution program and breaking fast at PPR Sri Pantai in the capital on Sunday. Therefore, he said, all parties are reminded to be prepared for the possible date of 1 Syawal to be announced later to avoid any confusion.
