KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed confidence that the Unity Government formed six months ago will last until the next general election (GE) and urged the government leadership to ensure good governance and prevent corruption in government policy. During the mandate delivery of the 2023 Unity Government National Convention on Sunday, Anwar reminded the government to continue implementing good governance.
Stopping corruption and abuse of power and ensuring policies that can drive growth and defend the people’s destiny. The convention, which was held for the first time, involved nearly 10,000 delegates and supporters from 19 parties supporting the Unity Government, held simultaneously with the Women, Youth and Princess Convention. Anwar also expressed his appreciation to Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for the coalition’s support in organizing the Unity Government.
He recognized the role of Ahmad Zahid and UMNO’s commitment as well as the support of the Premier of Sarawak, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the Sabah People’s Coalition. The Prime Minister also expressed his pride in forming a government that was not expected to remain for long, but with today’s convention, has given a clear signal to Malaysians and the world that this government is not only stable but will remain until the next general election.
