PETALING JAYA, June 7 – The GBS Asia Awards 2023 held in Malaysia last night recognized the best-in-class organizations and individuals in the Global Business Services (GBS) industry. The awards, which are considered to be the national beacon for instituting global best practices and a testament to the pursuit of excellence, were attended by Datuk Shahul Dawood, Chief Executive of HRD Corp as the guest of honor. Organized by GBS Malaysia, a chapter of PIKOM, the awards event celebrated companies and individuals that have contributed to the development, enhancement, and growth of the GBS marketplace in Malaysia and beyond.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the GBS industry has demonstrated resilience and growth, and the awards highlight the excellent business practices that will boost or maintain Malaysia’s position in the global services value chain. According to Mr. Anthony Raja Devadoss, GBS Malaysia Chair, the 12th GBS Asia Awards installation saw a 70% increase in participation for 2023. The awards recognized top companies and individuals who have showcased service-oriented and outcome-centric value delivered using GBS models.
Six new categories were added to the Corporate Section and two new categories to the Individual Section to reflect the evolvement and adoption in digital technology and work processes. Corporate award winners included Daythree Business Services Sdn Bhd for Best Automation Organization of the Year, Alcon Laboratories (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd for Best Business Continuity Plan Award, Kimberly-Clark Regional Services (M) Sdn Bhd for Best Flexible Work Organization of the Year, Standard Chartered Global Business Services Sdn Bhd for Best Practices in Corporate Social Responsibility.
Telecontinent Sdn Bhd for Operational Excellence in Contact Centre, Roche Services (Asia Pacific) Sdn Bhd and AICPA & CIMA for Operational Excellence in Finance & Accounting, Brandt Business Services Sdn Bhd for Operational Excellence in Human Resource, Dell Global Business Center for Operational Excellence in Information Technology and Eli Lilly Asia Pacific SSC Sdn Bhd for Regional GBS Company of the Year. The GBS Asia Awards were judged by an independent panel of industry experts from Malaysia and abroad.
