TOKYO, June 12- Kioxia Corporation, a leading flash memory manufacturer, has announced the availability of its KIOXIA CD7 Series EDSFF (Enterprise and Datacenter Standard Form Factor) E3.S NVMe SSDs on servers and storage systems from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). These EDSFF drives, designed with PCIe 5.0 technology, mark an industry first. The KIOXIA CD7 Series E3.S SSDs offer increased flash storage density per drive, resulting in optimized power efficiency and rack consolidation.

HPE’s ProLiant Gen11 servers, HPE Alletra 4000 data storage servers, and the HPE Synergy 480 Gen11 Compute Module are equipped with the latest PCIe 5.0 interface, delivering up to twice the performance compared to PCIe 4.0. These systems also support the use of EDSFF E3.S drive bays. The EDSFF E3.S form factor, considered a natural evolution from the 2.5-inch form factor, is designed to meet the demands of high-performance flash storage. It enables denser and more efficient deployments within the same rack unit.

While also improving cooling and thermal characteristics and increasing capacities by up to 1.5 to 2 times. The KIOXIA CD7 E3.S Series SSDs conform to the EDSFF E3.S specification and are available in capacities ranging from 1,920 to 7,680 gigabytes (GB). These data center-class NVMe 1.4 SSDs are specifically designed for read-intensive workloads and offer 1 DWPD (Drive Write(s) Per Day) endurance. Kioxia’s launch of EDSFF SSDs on Hewlett Packard Enterprise systems demonstrates their commitment to pushing the boundaries of storage technology.
