KEDAH, June 12 – Rapid Manufacturing, a global electronics manufacturing company specializing in custom-designed wire and cable harnesses, electro-mechanical, and box build assemblies, has announced the expansion of its operations in Kulim, Kedah, Malaysia. The new facility aims to serve customers in various sectors, including aerospace, telecommunications, medical, semiconductor, automotive, and industrial automation. Additionally, the site will house a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence (COE) to drive the company’s growth and establish itself as an industry leader.
Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), congratulated Rapid Manufacturing on this significant milestone. He highlighted Malaysia’s strong position to capitalize on the global growth in demand for the industry, leveraging the country’s comprehensive electrical and electronics (E&E) ecosystem and mature semiconductor supply chain. The new facility is expected to generate job opportunities, benefit the local community, and enhance the country’s supply chain capabilities in meeting the evolving requirements of the E&E industry.
The expansion aligns with the Government’s aspirations under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan and the New Investment Policy, reinforcing the fundamentals of Malaysia’s investment ecosystem. The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), responsible for attracting high-value investments in the region, including Kedah, Perlis, Penang, and Perak, expressed pride in facilitating Rapid Manufacturing’s investment. The NCIA believes that the new facility will enhance the region’s status as a leading destination for high-tech manufacturing and encourage further investments.
Rapid Manufacturing’s investments in Kedah and Penang are expected to strengthen the supply chain ecosystem, supporting industries such as E&E, Machinery and Equipment (M&E), medical technology and devices, telecommunications, automotive, and aerospace in the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER). With the assistance of NCIA’s incentives, the authority anticipates more companies following suit and investing in NCER, driving sustainable economic growth and creating job opportunities for the local community.
The fully integrated high-tech park provided by Kulim Technology Park Corporation (KTPC) played a crucial role in accelerating Rapid Manufacturing’s decision to invest in Kulim, Malaysia. Dato’ Mohd Sahil Zabidi, Group CEO of KTPC, expressed honor in enabling Rapid Manufacturing’s efforts to become an innovative industry leader, capitalizing on the region’s talents and excellent infrastructure. Mr. Yogendran Krishnamurthy, Managing Director of RPD MFG Connectivity Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Rapid Manufacturing, announced the opening of the new plant in Kulim.
This expansion enables the company to meet the growing demand, scale up testing and handling capabilities, and ensure the success of its customers. Rapid Manufacturing’s investment strategy in Kulim is expected to create around 2,000 employment opportunities, including at least 500 high-income jobs, contributing to the economic growth of Kedah.
