GEORGE TOWN, June 29 – The Penang Democratic Action Party (DAP) has successfully concluded the interview process with the party’s incumbent assemblymen in the state. The process was conducted by a five-person candidate selection panel, with the final interviews taking place on 28 June 2023. The panel consisted of Penang State Chairman Chow Kon Yeow, State Deputy Chairman Professor P. Ramasamy, Vice Chairmen Jagdeep Singh Deo and Zairil Khir Johari, and State Secretary Lim Hui Ying.
Together, they carefully assessed and interviewed the incumbent assemblymen to determine their suitability for the upcoming Penang state elections. Following the interviews, the panel will convene soon to deliberate and make decisions regarding potential candidates who will represent the DAP and Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming elections. The list of selected candidates will then be forwarded to the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) for further consideration and final decision-making.
It is important to note that only the CEC has the authority to announce the final list of candidates for the Penang state elections. In light of this, the Penang DAP urges party members, supporters, and voters to exercise caution and refrain from trusting any lists of candidates circulating on social media, as they are deemed to be fake.
