It aims to provide a glimpse of Malaysia’s diverse sights, rich cultural heritage, and vacation packages at competitive prices, fostering a deep appreciation for the country’s offerings.
Tourism Malaysia is also focusing on strengthening partnerships with major tour operators’ associations in Taipei, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. These collaborations aim to tailor enticing tourism packages that cater to the preferences and interests of the Taiwanese market. Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd. Ghapar, Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, expressed optimism about the initiative, stating, “We look forward to welcoming more than 100,000 Taiwanese travelers to Malaysia this year.
In 2022, Malaysia recorded 48,132 Taiwanese arrivals, indicating strong pent-up demand in the post-pandemic period. Taiwan is one of the important markets for Malaysia’s tourism industry.” The extensive promotional efforts in Taiwan reflect Tourism Malaysia’s commitment to fostering closer collaborations with its Taiwanese counterparts, ensuring that Malaysia remains a preferred and top-of-mind destination in the market. Malaysia has set a target of attracting 16.1 million international tourist arrivals in 2023, with an expected contribution of RM49.2 billion (USD 11.1 billion) in tourism receipts.
Currently, there are 64 direct flights from Taiwan to Malaysia, and Tourism Malaysia anticipates exponential growth from the Taiwanese market, as well as the broader North Asian region.
