PUTRAJAYA, July 3 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has affirmed that strict action will be taken against officials at the Malaysian Immigration Department (Immigration) who engage in corruption and misuse of power. During a survey conducted at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday, it was discovered that certain individuals within the department still adhere to outdated practices and systems, tarnishing the department’s image as well as that of public servants and the nation as a whole.

While acknowledging the overall efficiency of the department, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to safeguard its integrity by swiftly and severely addressing the misconduct of these individuals. “I have personally taken steps to defend the integrity of immigration and have firmly stated that immediate and severe action must be taken against these individuals who persist with outdated practices,” stated the Prime Minister during his address at the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) Citizens’ Monthly Meeting held on Monday.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s remarks highlight the government’s commitment to combating corruption within the immigration sector and its determination to uphold transparency and accountability among public servants. The issue of corruption within the Immigration Department has long been a concern, as it not only undermines the trust of the public but also hinders the nation’s progress. The government’s firm stance on eradicating corruption from the department demonstrates its dedication to creating a fair and just society.

Efforts to address these challenges will likely involve enhanced monitoring, stricter disciplinary measures, and the promotion of a culture of integrity among immigration officials. The Prime Minister’s commitment to taking strict action against those involved sends a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated within the department. It is anticipated that the implementation of these measures will lead to a more efficient and transparent immigration system, ultimately benefiting both the nation and its citizens.
