SHAH ALAM, July 21 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today revealed evidence related to the settler debt waiver of the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda). Two attached documents were presented, including the Assignment for Financial Service Reserve Account (FSRA) agreement signed between Felda, the Malaysian government, and Amanah Raya Berhad, as well as a digital payment instruction document from the Malaysian government amounting to RM990 million.
In the FSRA agreement document, it was signed by Felda Chairman Tan Sri Idris Jusoh and Felda Director-General Datuk Amiruddin Abdul Satar on behalf of Felda. Meanwhile, on behalf of the government, it was signed by Anwar as the Minister of Finance and Deputy Secretary-General (Investment) of the Treasury of the Ministry of Finance, Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin. Anwar stated that these are parts of the documents related to the government’s guarantee to Felda that he had signed.
“I present parts of the FSRA agreement documents related to the Government Guarantee to Felda that I had signed. “Therefore, I urge Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to apologize for the slander thrown at me,” he said in a statement on Thursday. Media reported that Muhyiddin, the former prime minister, issued a letter of demand (LOD) to Anwar regarding his statement on the settler debt relief at Felda, and demanded an open apology from the Prime Minister.
The LOD was prepared by the law firm Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership, dated July 18, 2023 (Tuesday), and was sent to two addresses of Anwar, namely his residence in Kajang, Selangor, and the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. According to the relevant documents, the firm stated that Anwar had made defamatory statements with the intention of tarnishing, damaging, and/or destroying the reputation of the Member of Parliament for Pagoh.
