REMBAU, August 9 – Voters are advised not to easily be swayed by the play of sentiments and accusations spread through social media during the state elections (PRN). The Deputy Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, stated that voters need to be able to evaluate the arguments presented by parties based on facts rather than false accusations, especially during the campaign period in the six states. I urge them to cast their votes carefully so as not to be influenced by accusations and sentiments that are rampant on social media because this is the new way people campaign through social media.
This platform has no filter, all kinds of accusations and stories (are spread). As citizens, we must be able to scrutinize and assess what is true and what is not. Then, we can see who is speaking the truth and who is constantly throwing accusations and false claims during the elections, he said after visiting the Early Voting Center at Dewan Angkasaraya, Sendayan Air Base on Tuesday. He, who is also the Defense Minister, stated that so far the early voting process that started at 8 am has been going smoothly.
“15 percent (as of 9:40 am) of the military personnel have fulfilled their responsibilities to cast their early votes. There are three channels and it only takes two to three minutes. This is good because in previous years, whether it was early voting or on the voting day, the lines were too long and the process took a very long time. This time it’s smooth and fast,” he added. Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chairman of Pas Rembau who is also the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Rantau, Rozmal Malakan, was also seen observing the early voting process at the camp.
When asked about his observations, he expressed gratitude that the early voting process was going smoothly and in an organized manner. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a camp. I used to be a soldier’s child and used to come in and out of camps. Today, I’m quite excited. I just visited the Rantau Police Station at 8:45 am, thank God everything is going smoothly, he shared. As a record, Mohamad has been the representative of DUN Rantau since 2004 and held the position of Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan from 2004 to 2018.
