KUALA LUMPUR, August 9 – Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) has embarked on a groundbreaking venture to revolutionize healthcare delivery with the introduction of Connected Care, an innovative remote patient care ecosystem that brings hospital services directly to patients’ homes. This pioneering solution, the first of its kind in Malaysia, focuses on connectivity and remote monitoring, allowing patients and their families to access healthcare conveniently and efficiently.
In line with its commitment to innovation, SJMC has partnered with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI) and joined the MRANTI HealthTech Hub, an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). This collaboration aims to drive advancements in healthcare technology and foster transformative innovation in patient care.
Bryan Lin, CEO of SJMC, expressed his excitement about the launch of Connected Care, stating, “We are shifting the paradigm from patients to people, from healthcare to health, and from hospital to home. Through Connected Care, we are revolutionizing healthcare delivery by empowering patients to access professional and affordable care within the comfort of their own homes. Our collaboration with the MRANTI HealthTech Hub reaffirms our commitment to driving advancements in healthcare technology and fostering transformative innovation for the betterment of the industry.”
Connected Care represents a significant milestone in SJMC’s efforts to establish a comprehensive, end-to-end healthcare system. This innovative ecosystem builds upon SJMC’s existing HomeConnect and TeleConnect services and introduces SeniorConnect, a new component tailored specifically for senior patients aged 65 and above who may be living apart from their loved ones but have the support of a caregiver.
SeniorConnect, a vital aspect of Connected Care, provides remote patient monitoring services designed to cater to the unique needs of senior patients. Healthcare professionals can accurately monitor and record vital signs on a daily basis, ensuring timely intervention if required. This advanced remote monitoring system promotes the well-being of senior patients and offers peace of mind to their loved ones, knowing that they are receiving the necessary care and attention.
Through the collaboration with MRANTI HealthTech Hub, SJMC and MRANTI will act as sandbox partners, offering a platform for technology companies to test and validate their healthcare products. This partnership enables these companies to showcase their solutions, with the potential for SJMC to procure and implement their technologies if they align with the hospital’s needs.
By joining forces with MRANTI HealthTech Hub, SJMC gains access to a vast network of healthcare technology companies. This invaluable support empowers SJMC to explore and leverage the innovations and solutions offered by these cutting-edge companies, enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.
Dzuleira Abu Bakar, CEO of MRANTI, emphasized the collaborative nature of the partnership and its potential impact on healthcare advancements. She stated, “Together, we aim to evaluate how these technologies perform in real healthcare settings and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients. This collaboration will bring value not only to MRANTI HealthTech Hub but also to our Integrated Healthcare Cluster (IHC), which will be developed through public-private collaboration. IHC will be a one-stop center to accelerate local R&D commercialization and technology adoption in healthcare and medicine.”
The MRANTI IHC, launched last year, will be developed on a 10-acre land, serving as a hub for the exploration and development of healthcare and medical technology. It will provide capacity-building programs, laboratories, and research facilities, enabling innovators to test ideas, prototypes, and applications in a live environment using advanced technology, equipment, and facilities.
The signing ceremony for the collaboration agreement was witnessed by Farizal B. Jaafar, Acting CEO of the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). He extended his congratulations to SJMC, recognizing their achievement in launching Connected Care and SeniorConnect as part of the Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital Program. He commended their commitment to digitalization and bringing healthcare services closer to patients, which aligns with the goals of the FMTH Program to elevate medical and service excellence.
