KUALA LUMPUR, August 13 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has urged Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to take moral responsibility and resign as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister immediately. Its Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, stated that PN’s significant success in gaining support from Malay voters in the State Elections (PRN) signifies that the coalition is the main political entity for the Malay community in the present time. He further mentioned that UMNO has become irrelevant, having only won 19 out of 108 contested seats.
“This means UMNO lost 82 percent of the total number of seats contested. PN also managed to win mixed seats like Kulim and small majority Malay seats like Derga, indicating that PN has garnered support from non-Malay voters as well. This proves the massive rejection by Malay people, including non-Malay communities, towards the fragile political coalition and false unity led by Anwar and Ahmad Zahid.” Thus, it is true that this state election serves as a referendum of the people’s rejection of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) political coalition.

The call for resignation comes after the state election results were announced, reflecting a major shift in political dynamics.
