KUALA LUMPUR, August 27 – Pos Malaysia Berhad, the nation’s postal and parcel service provider, has demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility by raising over RM80,000 for the Ministry of Health’s ‘Tabung Amanah Pembiayaan Kos Rawatan, Ubat-Ubatan dan Peralatan bagi Rawatan Pesakit Kanser’ (Cancer Patient Treatment, Medication, and Equipment Funding Trust). This substantial donation is a result of allocating five percent of the Ubat Melalui Pos (UMP) service’s revenue for the period from January to June 2023 to support underprivileged cancer patients.
Dato’ Sri Norazman Ayob, Deputy Secretary-General (Finance) of the Ministry of Health (MOH), applauded Pos Malaysia’s consistent support, noting that, “From 2012 to June 2023, Pos Malaysia has generously donated RM708,783.56, with RM617,393.20 spent on cancer patient treatment across Malaysia, particularly at the National Cancer Institute and Kuala Lumpur Hospital, the Ministry of Health’s primary facilities for cancer care. The funds have been used to purchase essential medical equipment such as chemo ports, oxygen concentrators, catheters, infusion pumps, and more.
The UMP service, which sent a total of 360,922 parcels from January to June 2023, contributed RM84,276.70 to this noble cause. The Ubat Melalui Pos (UMP) service, introduced in 2011, offers the delivery of prescribed medications to patients within the PosLaju area of coverage for a minimal fee. This service plays a crucial role in improving healthcare accessibility by delivering medication directly to patients’ homes, reducing wait times at MOH healthcare facilities, and ensuring the continuity of essential medication supplies. Patients’ compliance with their medication therapy is also enhanced through this service.
Zaini Yahman, Director of Operations at Pos Malaysia Berhad, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in Pos Malaysia, stating, “We take great pride in contributing to the Ministry of Health’s mission to improve healthcare accessibility for Malaysians. Our extensive network, covering over 11 million addresses nationwide, enables us to make a significant impact on patients’ lives. We are not just delivering parcels; we are delivering hope to those in need. This service exemplifies our commitment to corporate responsibility and innovation, and we are eager to continue uplifting lives and building a better future.”
Pos Malaysia is renowned for its delivery services, boasting an exceptional commitment to efficiency and on-time delivery performance.
