KUALA LUMPUR, August 29 – The government will allocate RM2 billion as initial funding for the National Energy Transition Facility to enable a seamless financial catalyst, said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today. The Prime Minister said that this facility will empower the said financial catalyst to ensure the smooth flow of financial resources towards energy transition projects that have the potential for marginal returns or returns below market rates.

“Our progress, taking into account the current state of Malaysia’s decarbonization technology, relies heavily on alternative energy sources and strong regional and international cooperation,” he said while speaking at the launch of the second phase of the National Energy Transition Roadmap here today.
