KUALA LUMPUR, September 8 – The investigation papers concerning the President of PAS, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, in connection with his statement questioning the powers of the Pardons Board, have been submitted to the Attorney General’s Office on Thursday. The Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, stated that the investigation papers were completed before being handed over to the Attorney General’s Office.
The investigation papers involving Abdul Hadi have been handed over to the Attorney General’s Office this morning, and we await further action, he said at a press conference after officiating the closing ceremony of the 4th National Forensic Symposium 2023 at the Royal Malaysia Police College here on Thursday. On Monday, it was reported that the police recorded a statement from Abdul Hadi regarding his remarks made during a ceramah at his party’s headquarters in Bakri, Muar, Johor last month. The Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, reportedly stated that Abdul Hadi only answered five out of 24 questions posed by the police.
During the recording of the statement, Abdul Hadi chose to answer the remaining 19 police questions in court. Abdul Hadi is being investigated under the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. Regarding the investigation into former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad following his alleged derogatory remarks against the royal institution, Razarudin stated that the investigation papers were also submitted to the Attorney General’s Office last Tuesday.
