JOHOR BAHRU, September 9 – Unofficial results indicate that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has successfully retained the Pulai Parliament and Simpang Jeram State Assembly seats in the recent By-Election (PRK) held on Saturday. According to UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, as of 8:11 PM, PH candidate Suhaizan Kayat secured 36,703 votes, defeating his closest rival, Zulkifli Jaafar from Perikatan Nasional (PN). Suhaizan currently leads by a majority of over 12,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Independent candidate Samsudin Mohamad Fauzi received 408 votes, as reported in Asyraf Wajdi’s Facebook update. In the Simpang Jeram State Assembly, PH candidate Nazri Abdul Rahman obtained 10,528 votes, leading over PN candidate Dr. Mohd Mazri Yahya, who garnered 7,226 votes. Independent candidate S. Jeghanathan received 243 votes. In the 15th General Election, both of these seats were won by the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who passed away on July 23.
