KEPALA BATAS, October 2 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, wants the responsibility, enlightenment, and awareness of savings or involvement in the stock market to start from the school level. As a result, discussions between Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM), and the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) to expand on this matter will be held soon. “With PNB’s track record, integrity, and good management, the enlightenment about stocks and savings needs to begin by training selected teachers in schools.”

“Based on PNB’s sustainability agenda, which is a company with a good management track record after so long.” We cannot assume that those who save or invest in stocks have sufficient information,” he said during the opening ceremony of Minggu Saham Amanah Malaysia (MSAM) 2023 in Setia Fontaines, Bertam on Sunday. Also present were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Chairman of the PNB Group, Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, and the Penang State Government Exco.

According to Anwar, the government has assured PNB to hold discussions with KPM and KPT aimed at expanding awareness of savings and stock market involvement starting at the school level. “We will select teachers, train them, and provide training from PNB itself to provide enlightenment and additional awareness responsibilities at the school level, namely stock literacy and early exposure to it. I urge teachers to take advantage of MSAM as an activity fully supported by schools,” he said.
