PETALING JAYA, October 11 – As Blood Cancer Awareness Month unfolds in September, Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Berhad (“MGRC” or “the Group”), a leading genomics and biopharmaceutical specialist, is proud to announce a significant Strategic Collaboration Agreement. This partnership brings together MGRC Healthcare Sdn. Bhd. (“MGRCH”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MGRC, and Yayasan Kanser Malaysia (“YKM”) to bolster cancer awareness and early detection efforts.

The primary goal of this collaboration is to unite YKM’s community-centric educational initiatives with MGRCH’s cutting-edge genomic and immunotherapy services, which encompass innovative treatments like CAR T-cells and Natural Killer (NK) cells. Yayasan Kanser Malaysia is a prominent foundation dedicated to cancer awareness and patient support. Their mission involves serving 10,000 cancer patients within the next five years and establishing a specialized hospital.

YKM’s wide-ranging initiatives include educational programs, emotional support, and financial assistance for cancer patients, underlining their commitment to nurturing a health-conscious community in Malaysia. In a concerted effort, both organizations will launch a series of comprehensive public awareness campaigns through physical and digital channels. MGRCH will contribute its medical genomics expertise to these events, providing specialist input and specialty services. YKM, on the other hand, will facilitate permits and enhance event promotion, ensuring a well-coordinated and impactful partnership.

Azri Azerai, Executive Chairman of Malaysian Genomics, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As we celebrate Blood Cancer Awareness Month, our collaboration with Yayasan Kanser Malaysia couldn’t be more timely. With the only privately-owned BSL 2 GML Certified lab for cell culture, we are poised to combat cancer effectively by integrating MGRC’s groundbreaking CAR T-cells and Natural Killer (NK) cell therapies into YKM’s extensive community outreach programs. Investors should recognize that this alliance extends our market reach while highlighting our commitment to advancing immunotherapy solutions in genomics.”

Dr. Mohd Suhaimi Bin Yaakof, Medical Board YKM, emphasized, “This partnership with MGRC Healthcare represents a pivotal step in increasing public awareness about cancer. Together, we maximize our collective impact through MGRC’s state-of-the-art genomics and our grassroots community engagement.” This collaboration enhances MGRC’s position in the rapidly evolving field of genomics and precision medicine. It also appeals to a broader consumer and investor base interested in both social impact and long-term profitability.

The initiative aligns seamlessly with MGRC’s expansive vision and focus on innovation. As of 5 September 2023, MGRC’s share price stands at RM0.52, with a market capitalization of RM71.35 million.
