KUCHING, October 11 – Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad (SCIB) proudly announces the completion and handover of two schools situated in Kanowit near Sibu, as part of the second phase of the RM1 billion Daif School Redevelopment Project, under Package 13. These schools have been redeveloped to provide students with safer and more conducive learning environments. SCIB’s wholly-owned subsidiary, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn. Bhd. (SCIBIBS), was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and commission (EPCC) project valued at RM13.28 million by the Sarawak Public Works Department in October 2021.
Mr. Ku Chong Hong, Managing Director of SCIB, expressed his satisfaction with the project, emphasizing that students now have a safer and more comfortable environment to pursue their education and co-curricular activities. He added, “We certainly hope that the redevelopment of the two schools will help ease the challenges of these children in obtaining a decent education.” SCIB demonstrates its commitment to education and the community by contributing cash donations to SK Nanga Pedai and SK Nanga Jagoi, the two schools that have undergone redevelopment.
Moreover, the company has donated computers and printers to these schools, enhancing their educational programs and enriching the learning experience for students. SCIB remains committed to seeking small-to-mid-sized projects where it can leverage its EPCC expertise, supported by its reputation as East Malaysia’s leading precast concrete and Industrialised Building System (IBS) manufacturer. The company has a successful track record in rural infrastructure, spanning roads, schools, and clinics.
It actively seeks projects in East Malaysia, where substantial allocations have been made for dilapidated schools, particularly in Sarawak and Sabah. As of the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, SCIB’s order book reflects a cumulative contract value of RM275 million. The company continues to expand its portfolio and uphold its commitment to delivering quality infrastructure projects and supporting education in the community.
