GEORGE TOWN, October 18 – Penang DAP chairman, Chow Kon Yeow, has clarified his recent claim about a potential ouster, emphasizing that it pertained to the period before the state elections. In his speech over the weekend, Chow had cryptically hinted at efforts to replace him as chief minister but now insists he was merely describing the situation prior to the elections. During a press conference at the Penang Institute, he stated, “I said before the elections, there were attempts to replace the chief minister.
But although I was not replaced, I said there could be challenges ahead. For those who are thinking about creating issues, I told them not to, because the party has named me as chief minister.” Chow’s statement comes after DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng called on him to provide evidence of any alleged plot to remove him from his position as Penang chief minister. Chow also sought to dispel any notion of “external forces” working against him, encouraging all parties to unite and work together to realize the Penang 2030 vision. He clarified that “they” referred to anyone who might be opposing his leadership, if such individuals exist.
