GEORGE TOWN, October 19 – The State Government of Penang, during the State Executive Council meeting today, unanimously resolved that the Chief Minister, YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, shall take legal action against Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping, the Honorary Lifetime President of the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC). This decision is a response to statements made by Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping that have been deemed defamatory and damaging to the reputation of the Chief Minister.
Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping made these statements during a press conference held by a related organization on October 18, 2023. The statements were widely reported in both print and online media. The decision by the State Government is based on media coverage quoting Tan Sri Tan Kok Ping using defamatory language that tarnishes the reputation of the Chief Minister.
