KUALA LUMPUR, October 26 – Apple fans in Malaysia will soon be paying more for their Apple One subscriptions, as the Cupertino tech giant has raised prices for all tiers of the bundled subscription service. Apple One, which combines Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, and iCloud into one comprehensive package, has been a popular choice among Malaysian Apple users since its debut in November 2020. However, this is the second price increase within a short span of time.
In the previous year, the individual bundle saw its price jump from RM 19.90 to RM 29.90 per month. The latest increase, while not as substantial, still impacts users’ budgets. The base or Individual subscription, which covers Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage, has been raised by RM 5, bringing it to RM 34.90 per month. The Family plan, which can be shared among up to five individuals and includes 200GB of shared iCloud storage, now costs RM 44.90 per month, up from RM 39.90.
For those subscribing to the Premium plan, which offers 2TB of shared iCloud storage across five users, the price has been increased from RM 78.90 to RM 84.90 per month. This price adjustment has been attributed to fluctuations in the exchange rate, with the Malaysian Ringgit trading weakly against the US dollar, currently pegged at RM 4.78 to USD 1. It’s important to note that, as of now, other Apple services in Malaysia have not experienced any pricing changes.
While this price increase may not be well-received by Apple users, the bundled services continue to offer convenience and value for those deeply entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. They provide a unified subscription for a wide array of entertainment and cloud storage needs, even if it comes at a slightly higher cost.
