JOHOR BAHRU, October 30 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) has introduced the mynext Graduate Employability Grant, an innovative initiative designed to bolster the employability of Malaysian graduates from public higher learning institutions. The soft launch of this program took place in conjunction with the Ministry of Human Resources’ (MOHR) Open Day at the PERSADA International Convention Centre in Johor Bahru, and it was officiated by Tuan S. Siva Kumar, Undersecretary of the Policy Division in MOHR, representing the Honourable Minister of Human Resources.

YB Tuan V. Sivakumar, Minister of Human Resources, expressed the government’s commitment to enhancing students’ career readiness and employability through this initiative, which involves an investment of RM 2 million by TalentCorp. He emphasized that addressing underemployment and career mismatch is a crucial challenge that needs to be tackled, and he encouraged all local public universities to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance the employability of Malaysian graduates.

The mynext Graduate Employability Grant is a three-year initiative by TalentCorp, offering a maximum of RM100,000 Graduate Employability seed fund per institution to active public higher learning institutions (IPTAs) that meet the collaboration model’s requirements for maximum impact on their students. During the soft launch, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) became the first IPTA to commit to the mynext Graduate Employability Grant, aiming to benefit its more than 32,000 students. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Che Rozid Mamat, UTM’s Career Centre Director, represented the institution during this commitment.

Thomas Mathew, TalentCorp Group CEO, highlighted that one of the key objectives of the grant is to encourage students to utilize the TalentCorp’s mynext platform fully. This platform provides psychometric assessments, internship opportunities, and a lifelong learning tool for personal and professional development. Mathew stated, “TalentCorp’s mynext Graduate Employability Grant represents a pivotal milestone in Malaysia’s endeavor to cultivate a skilled and adaptable workforce. It also serves as our contribution to institutions with commendable plans for conducting activities but limited resources to execute them.”
