KUALA LUMPUR, October 31 — The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has revealed the inclusion of two new categories, the MFL Cup Best Player and MFL Cup Top Scorer, for the upcoming 2023 National Football Awards (ABK23) slated for December. With these additions, the total number of categories for recognition will rise to 16, highlighting outstanding performances in the under-23 tournament. Out of 782 players, 398 have been shortlisted based on their contributions to their respective clubs.
The final list of nominees, curated by the ABK23 Vetting Committee, will feature 10 players per category, categorized according to their positions. After last year’s virtual ceremony, MFL expressed its satisfaction in hosting the awards physically this year, showcasing the league’s commitment to honoring excellence in Malaysian football. Among the categories to be contested include the 2023 M-League Best Goal, Fair Play, Best Goalkeeper, Best Coach, Best Team, and Most Valuable Player.
