KUALA LUMPUR, November 3 — The Ministry of Defense has issued a clarification regarding the age limit for participants in the upcoming National Service Training Program (PLKN) 3.0 in response to local and online media reports. The government has decided to reintroduce the National Service Training Program (PLKN) in its 3.0 version with modifications that adhere to the National Service Training Act 2003 (Act 628). Regarding the determination of the age limit for PLKN 3.0 participants, the government will implement the following:
- Participants will be selected based on their year of birth. This means there will be a specific starting year of birth for participants to commence PLKN 3.0. For example, if PLKN 3.0 is to be conducted in 2024, only individuals born in 2007 will be called to undergo the training.
- If selected participants are unable to attend national service training for valid reasons, they have the option to apply for deferment. The maximum age limit for individuals to participate as trainees is 35 years.
The Ministry of Defense aims to address public confusion and concerns regarding the age limit for PLKN 3.0 participants through this clarification.
