KUALA LUMPUR, November 6 – SBH Kibing Solar New Materials Sdn. Bhd. unveiled its latest venture, a cutting-edge manufacturing facility at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). This 130-acre site is dedicated to producing solar photovoltaic glass, a significant step towards sustainable energy. With the goal of creating 1,400 job opportunities, SBH Kibing Solar commits to hiring at least 90 percent of its workforce from the local Sabahan community. To ensure the new workforce is well-prepared, the company is implementing intensive training programs.
Dignitaries attending the inauguration included Sabah’s Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, Federal Government officials from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and Sabah State Government, along with Mr. Yu Qibing, Chairman of Kibing Group, and other stakeholders. Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), praised SBH Kibing Solar’s expansion, citing it as a testament to Malaysia’s investment appeal.
He noted that this investment aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and green economy, in line with the recently launched New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. MIDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, celebrated the company’s dedication to advancing Malaysia’s glass industry. He highlighted the facility’s potential to become a benchmark for the industry, fostering technological advancements, job creation, and economic growth in Sabah.
