KUALA LUMPUR, November 12 — Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng has taken legal action against Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad for making unverified remarks linking him, his family, and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) to deceased communist leader Chin Peng and Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew. Lim has appointed Datuk Sankara Narayanan Nair as his lawyer to pursue criminal action and legal proceedings against Siti Mastura.
He called the statements “extremist,” “racist,” and “outrageous lies” and demanded that PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang and Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin publicly state their position on the matter. Lim emphasized that Siti Mastura’s remarks were baseless fabrications intended to incite fear and prejudice against DAP and the ethnic Chinese community in Malaysia. He expressed disappointment at the lack of remorse or clarification from Siti Mastura, who has yet to retract her allegations.
Lim urged Abdul Hadi and Muhyiddin to declare their stance on the matter, emphasizing the need for public clarification and correction of the misinformation. The controversy highlights the ongoing use of historical figures like Lee Kuan Yew and Chin Peng to create negative perceptions about DAP, despite clarifications and corrections being provided.
