KUALA LUMPUR, November 14 – NTT Ltd., a leading IT infrastructure and services company, has unveiled its latest data center, Cyberjaya 6 (CBJ6), in the NTT Cyberjaya campus. This significant investment of over RM 234 million (USD 50 million) aligns with Malaysia’s digital growth vision, aiming to position the country as an ‘Asian Digital Tiger’ by 2025. CBJ6, the sixth data center on NTT’s campus, boasts a critical IT load of 7MW, covering 4,890m2 of space. It features two 33kV substations with diverse power reception and advanced cooling wall technology, ensuring a stable environment for high-density racks up to 15kW.
Together with the previously constructed Cyberjaya 5 (CBJ5) Data Center in 2021, these facilities provide a combined 20,000m2 of space and a facility load of 22MW. Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), extended his congratulations to NTT on this accomplishment. He emphasized that NTT’s continuous expansion in Malaysia reflects the company’s confidence in Malaysia’s potential as a data center hub in the region. Malaysia is increasingly recognized in the global data center sector, particularly in Southeast Asia.
Wwith a projected market size expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16.15% between 2022 and 2027, according to a report by Technavio. Takeshi Kimura, Managing Director of NTT Global Data Centers Holding Asia, noted that companies worldwide, particularly in Southeast Asia, are keen on establishing robust IT platforms to address the challenges and drive their businesses effectively. He emphasized that selecting NTT as a partner can aid in this endeavor due to NTT’s extensive experience in managing networks, submarine cables, and data centers in Asia.
Ho Yee Chung, Managing Director of NTT Global Data Centers Malaysia, highlighted NTT’s longstanding commitment to Malaysia’s digital growth. NTT Cyberjaya campus has evolved over the past two decades, offering modern facilities and expertise to meet the demands of hyperscalers in Malaysia. Doug Adams, CEO and President of NTT Global Data Centers & Submarine Cable, emphasized NTT’s consistent capacity expansion in both existing and new data center markets. NTT is committed to delivering reliable infrastructure to support clients’ digital transformation ambitions in Southeast Asia. With the new CBJ6, NTT’s global data center capacity (including planned expansions) is set to reach 2,000 MW worldwide.
Additionally, the soon-to-commence submarine cable MIST, constructed by NTT as one of the shareholders, is poised to revolutionize connectivity at the NTT Cyberjaya Data Center. Spanning 8,100 km, it will seamlessly connect Malaysia, India, Singapore, and Thailand, boasting a 12-fiber pair capacity capable of transmitting over 200 TBPS of data, significantly contributing to Malaysia’s global network connectivity and sustainable socio-economic growth.
