JOHOR BAHRU, November 16 – A total of 25 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Johor have received financial assistance in the form of grants and financing worth more than RM1.71 million from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) through its agency, SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia). This financial aid was disbursed under the Youth Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development Program (TUBE) amounting to RM230,000, the Bumiputera Enterprise Enhancement Program (BEEP) totaling RM687,000, and an additional RM800,000 under the Small and Medium Enterprise Revitalisation Financing Scheme (SMERF).
The presentation of the financial assistance checks took place during a series of visits and briefing sessions of the Micro MADANI (Micro MADANI) Micro Enhancement Program for the Southern Region, involving nearly 400 participants at the Holiday Villa Hotel, Johor, today. Mr. Rizal bin Nainy, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia, in his address during the Micro MADANI Program visits and briefing sessions, said, “Access to sustainable financing remains a significant issue for MSMEs, especially micro-enterprises.
Therefore, SME Corp. Malaysia has introduced the Micro MADANI Program, which provides financial assistance to micro-enterprises in the form of grants, loans, and vouchers through five (5) main initiatives, namely the Micro Business Grant (GPM), Youth Micro Business Grant@TUBE, BEEP Plus Sabah and Sarawak, and the MSME Status Voucher. He further stated, “As of September 2023, SME Corp. Malaysia has registered a total of 27,054 PMKS applicants, and out of this number, 3,121 PMKS (11.5%) are from Johor.”
Applications for the Micro MADANI Program have been open since its launch by YB Datuk Ewon Benedick, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, on September 20. To facilitate micro-enterprises in applying for assistance, they can make use of the online application, and further information can be accessed on the SME Corp. Malaysia website via the link http://smecorp.gov.my/MIKROMADANI. The Johor Bahru leg of the Micro MADANI Program visits and briefing sessions is the third location after Kuantan, Pahang, and Kuching, Sarawak.
This tour will continue with an event in Alor Setar, Kedah, on October 12, 2023, before concluding in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, on October 20, 2023. Present at the Micro MADANI Program visits and briefing sessions for the Southern Region were Mr. Tuan Haji Mohd Radzi Haji Mohd Amin, CEO of SME Corp.
