KUALA LUMPUR, November 21 – The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) is poised to establish official ties with Thailand’s Move Forward Party (MFP), the party that secured the most seats in Thailand’s national elections in May. Muda’s acting president, Amira Aisya Abd Aziz, announced plans to meet with representatives from MFP soon to formalize the collaboration between the two political entities. The move reflects Muda’s commitment to building relationships with like-minded political parties in Southeast Asia.
Amira Aisya also mentioned the Indonesian Solidarity Party, led by Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, as another potential political partner in the region. The collaboration aims to showcase Muda’s dedication to enhancing Malaysia’s standing in Southeast Asia beyond the confines of the party. Amira Aisya outlined Muda’s plans for its first party elections in the second quarter of the next year, with more details to be disclosed later. To reinforce the party internally, Muda will embark on a “party rejuvenation agenda,” reviewing its current membership status.
While approximately 80,000 people have joined the party since its formation, a thorough check on membership registrations is deemed crucial to strengthen Muda’s position. Amira Aisya emphasized the importance of this step as Muda continues to grow rapidly. To facilitate registrations, the process was open and straightforward, but the party now recognizes the necessity of verifying its membership details. Amira Aisya is set to visit every state over the next 100 days, holding official meetings with state Muda leaders and members as part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its organizational structure.
