KUALA LUMPUR, November 25 – In recognition of the 20th Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Palo Alto Networks’ APAC Cyber Defense Engineering expert, David Rajoo, shares crucial insights to bolster cybersecurity for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). In Malaysia, where SMEs comprise 90% of businesses, they face mounting cybersecurity risks and are frequently targeted for cyberattacks. According to the 2023 State of Cybersecurity Report by Palo Alto Networks, Malaysia stands out in the ASEAN region for the frequency of disruptive cyberattacks.

SMEs tend to feel less prepared for these threats due to tighter budgets and limited in-house cybersecurity resources. Therefore, Rajoo outlines five essential strategies for SMEs to fortify their cybersecurity defenses, including conducting security assessments, deploying advanced firewalls, strengthening network security with endpoint protection, building a dedicated cybersecurity team, and investing in employee security awareness training. By taking these measures, SMEs can better protect themselves in an increasingly digital and cyberthreat-prone landscape.
