KUALA LUMPUR, November 29 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a statement cautioning Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs to abandon what he termed as delirious thoughts of taking over the government. Anwar asserted that the Opposition’s MPs need to refrain from constantly discussing government takeover plans while party members continue to leave.
During the Prime Minister’s Question Time in Parliament, he emphasized the importance of focusing on fulfilling reform promises rather than entertaining thoughts of political maneuvering. Responding to an MP’s question about accepting more lawmakers from the Opposition to prioritize public welfare, Anwar underscored the need for respectful dialogue and criticized the focus on undermining the government. He urged Malaysians to strengthen national unity and political stability amid growing polarization along racial and religious lines.
Anwar also highlighted the necessity of responsible discussions on parliamentary allocations and criticized the misuse of religious references in political discourse. This statement comes as the fifth Bersatu MP, Syed Abu Hussin, declared support for the unity government, joining fellow party members who have shifted their allegiance. Anwar’s call emphasizes the importance of constructive engagement over divisive political tactics.
