GEORGE TOWN, December 3 — INV New Material Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Shenzhen Senior Technology Material Co. Ltd., celebrated the launch of its RM3.2 billion Phase 1 Lithium Batteries Separator Project in Penang. Situated in the Penang Technology Park, the project positions Malaysia as a leader in the lithium battery separator industry within Southeast Asia.
With an initial annual capacity of 1.3 billion square meters of wet-process separators and coated separators, INV’s venture is poised to significantly impact the global new energy industry. Penang Chief Minister, YAB Chow Kon Yeow, highlighted the collaboration between the government and the private sector as instrumental in INV’s success. This partnership showcases the importance of strong relationships for the state’s prosperity, with the Penang State Government committed to creating an environment conducive to global business growth.
YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), praised INV’s milestone, recognizing its contribution to Malaysia’s ambition to become a regional hub in the electric vehicle industry. The establishment of INV’s manufacturing facility not only generates jobs but also aligns with Malaysia’s industrial growth strategies outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the Chemical Industry Roadmap 2021-2030.
