KUALA LUMPUR, December 5 – In a bid to enhance collective emergency and crisis preparedness, PETRONAS joined hands with key government entities, including the Prime Minister’s Department, National Security Council (MKN), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), and Kuala Muda District Office. The two-day disaster management workshop, officiated by MKN Deputy Director General of Security Management, Hamzah Ishak, brought together over 120 representatives from dedicated authorities and local agencies.
Themed “United Towards a Common Goal,” the workshop focused on sharing valuable insights and best practices for effective emergency response and crisis management. The session featured speakers from PETRONAS, along with key government authorities, agencies, and local entities such as the Kedah National Security Council, Malaysian Civil Defence, Kedah State Health Department, Royal Malaysia Police, and Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department. As part of the collaborative effort, PETRONAS and NADMA conducted a Tabletop Emergency Response Exercise, simulating a toxic chemical release and major fire explosion scenario at the PETRONAS facilities in Gurun.
This exercise aimed to enhance the understanding of roles and responsibilities involved in managing disasters. PETRONAS reaffirms its commitment to safety by planning similar workshops in various states and districts across Malaysia. The initiative reflects the company’s dedication to safeguarding the well-being of the people, its assets, and the environment through effective disaster management and response strategies.
