KUALA LUMPUR, December 7 – Muzium Telekom undergoes a mesmerizing transformation with the arrival of IMMERSIO 2023, an immersive exhibition curated by Filamen and fueled by Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (Yayasan TM). Running from December 15, 2023, to January 7, 2024, the fifth edition of IMMERSIO promises a captivating blend of technology, culture, and heritage. Themed “Waris” (Inherited), the exhibition, featuring over 20 new media artists, invites visitors to explore the tapestry of Southeast Asian heritage with a contemporary twist, offering insights into cultural identities, traditions, and personal narratives.
IMMERSIO 2023 introduces a diverse ensemble of artists, including Chuah Chong Yan, Izealist, Unreality Kai, Vasflow, Karipap, Anwar Suhaimi, Suzy Sulaiman, and James Ly. Beyond visual art, the exhibition integrates soundscape creations, modern renditions of Silat warriors’ tales, and innovative takes on traditional art forms like shadow puppetry. Abdul Shakir “Grasshopper,” the curator, expresses excitement about converting a familiar venue into an immersive maze of experiences. The Digital Technology Incubation Programme by Yayasan TM has played a crucial role in supporting local digital artists, emphasizing the theme “Waris” as an encouragement for the current generation to embrace innovation while honoring their roots.
