GEORGE TOWN, December 9 – A groundbreaking moment for Penang’s tourism unfolded with the highly anticipated soft launch of the Penang Bridge Sunset Cruise, ushering in a new era of leisurely experiences. Setting sail from the Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (PRTU) in George Town, the cruise navigates a meticulously crafted route, treating passengers to an exceptional view of the iconic Penang Bridge against the backdrop of a mesmerizing sunset. With weekend cruises slated from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays, this exclusive journey caters to a limited capacity of 100 passengers per cruise, promising a personalized and enjoyable atmosphere.
As the soft launch event introduces the cruise to the public, the official kick-off of the Penang Bridge Sunset Cruise is scheduled for December 16, 2023. Priced at RM148 for adults and RM98 for children (12 years and below), the cruise offers a unique blend of luxury and scenic beauty, complete with a buffet arrangement. Beyond being a leisurely pursuit, the cruise is poised to play a pivotal role in elevating Penang’s tourism sector. Showcasing the region’s landmarks in a novel way, the Penang Bridge Sunset Cruise aims to attract both domestic and international tourists, contributing to the growth of local businesses and the overall economy.
The Penang Bridge Sunset Cruise is anticipated to become a signature attraction, reshaping Penang’s tourism landscape and establishing itself as a must-try activity for both visitors and locals. It is noteworthy that Seaqueen, in collaboration with Penang Port, is responsible for chartering the ferry, providing buffet services, ticket sales and marketing. Penang Port, while overseeing the boat, has no involvement in providing food and beverages, welcoming third-party charters for private events. Regulatory approval for the official launch is pending and additional steps are in progress before the cruise becomes fully operational.
