KUALA LUMPUR, December 10 – Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) is gearing up for the Malaysian Gas Symposium 2023 (MyGAS 2023), slated for November 16, 2023, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. MyGAS 2023, under the theme “Revitalising the Role of Gas in Energy Transition,” is set to be a crucial gathering for policymakers and industry leaders to chart the course for the Malaysian gas sector. With YBhg. Datuk Yatimah Sarjiman, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy, delivering the keynote address, the symposium will explore the amplified role of gas in the context of global energy transition, aligning with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

Constituting 43% of the current total primary energy mix, natural gas is projected to maintain a substantial 56% share by 2050, as per the NETR. MyGAS 2023 aims to facilitate detailed discussions on gas’s evolving role, addressing critical aspects like energy security, affordability, and socio-economic advancement. The symposium, marking the culmination of Malaysia’s energy conferences this year, spotlights natural gas as a central, environmentally friendly fossil fuel.
